Amager, Copenhagen
November 12 – December 12 2009
TALKING HEADS were installed in public space close to Copenhagen University as part of Glowing Climate Festival arranged by Illumenarts during the world climate conference COP15 in Copenhagen. By-passers at the canal including the university students and staff could hear strange voices in the dark every time they passed. The voices belong to the four Talking Heads that hang dangling from a set of stairs on the outside of the university building. The Talking Heads speak (in Danish) of nature and of their opinion on the climate debate. A female head finds the debate ridiculous and overrated, while a male hippie economises with his use of energy by standing still and letting his hair grow, and another more romantic climate head invites the public to crawl up into his stomach and head to look through his eyes and see the beautiful trees outside.
The heads are made of hard rubbish collected, found or donated by Copenhagen citizens, colorful recyclable string, horn-speakers and blinking low-energy LED-lights to mimic the carnevalesque.
