A Children Workshop, Den Frie Centre for Contemporary Art,

Material, Empathy and Sensation
What is art made of? And how does one work with art?
Den Frie Centre for Contemporary Art invited Karoline H. Larsen to make a workshop in their programe “Through the Arts”. Karoline worked in connection to the exhibition Party and Lost for a 2,5 hour workshop for children of 3-4 years old. She invited the children to work with their bodies and the exact same materials as the art works were made of in the exhibition. Recycled objects. Salt Dough objects. Performance expressions. The children were taken through a specific proces: From a self sensation and group experience of the exhibition to working on their own expressions both in a material and as a body performance.

Body experience and sensation. Feel the shape of your nose. Walk like the artists on the photo.

Compare the art work with our own body parts. Make an imprint of your foot/hand in Salt dough.

Search and find a piece of recycle material in the exhibition. Build your own paper maché on the recycle material.

Run like the horse in the movie.

The children climb the big animal. Then the children crawl like an animal them selves and carry each other.
